Modern society and its trash By definition a city is densely populated. And where there are many people, there is a lot of trash. It's an issue every city has to deal with especially in these times of climate change. I think Barcelona has a "modern" approach to this topic: the waste treatment plant is not hidden away far away from the city but as close as the smell allows it to be. It is located in a representative building open to visitors and guided tours seem to be routine. It seems like Barcelona wants to give its population a better understanding of the problem and its solution. The sculptural photovoltaic plate close by is another reminder of the times we live in and the issues of sustainability we have to deal with.
